Kolkata: Reserve Bank of India deputy governor Rohit Jain, who assumed charge Monday, has taken over most key departments earlier handled by T Rabi Sankar, who demitted office last week following the end of his extended term.However, two departments which were under Rabi Sankar — the Department of Currency Management and the Department of Payment & Settlement Systems — have been allocated to deputy governor Shirish Chandra Murmu.
The central bank reshuffled the portfolios of deputy governors following the elevation of Jain, who will handle the Corporate Strategy & Budget Department, Department of External Investments & Operations, Department of Government & Bank Accounts, Department of Information Technology, Fintech Department, Financial Markets Regulation Department, Foreign Exchange Department, Internal Debt Management Department, Rajbhasha Department and Risk Monitoring Department.
Jain, a career central banker, took charge on Monday for a period of three years.
