India and the United States are likely to finalise big-ticket agreements, including in the energy sector, in the coming days and weeks, PTI reported on Tuesday, citing the US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, signalling further momentum in bilateral ties.

The development comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a 40-minute phone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, their second interaction since the outbreak of the West Asia conflict earlier this year.

During the call, the two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation across sectors and reiterated their commitment to strengthening the India–US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. They also discussed the evolving situation in West Asia, underlining the importance of ensuring that the Strait of Hormuz remains open and secure — a key artery for global energy supplies.

“Received a call from my friend President Donald Trump. We reviewed the substantial progress achieved in our bilateral cooperation… and are committed to further strengthening our Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership,” Modi said in a post on X.

According to officials, the conversation reflects the continued strategic alignment between the two countries, particularly at a time of geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East.Ambassador Gor said ties between India and the US remain on a strong footing, with both sides looking to expand cooperation in critical areas. The expected deals — especially in energy — could further deepen engagement in sectors central to economic and strategic interests.

Trump also conveyed a personal message during the call, telling Modi, “I just want you to know we all love you,” underscoring the warm rapport between the two leaders, as per the report.

The renewed engagement comes amid heightened tensions in West Asia, with both countries emphasising stability in global energy routes and continued economic collaboration.
