During fiscal FY 26, Indian textile exports registered a degrowth of -2.86% over the previous year while apparel exports registered a degrowth of -1.36% during the same time, shows an analysis of the data by done by trade body Confederation of Indian Textile Industries.

During March 2026, Indian textile exports registered a degrowth of -9.91% over the previous year, while apparel exports registered a significant degrowth of -18.99% during the same time period.

The cumulative export of textile and apparel in March 2026 has registered an year -on-year degrowth of -14.02%.
However, the import of raw cotton surged by about 54.99% during FY 26, as India had eased import duties for about 4 months from August 28, 2025 to December 31, 2025.
