Benefits under the RoDTEP Scheme will be available for exports made by domestic tariff area units, advance authorisation holders, special economic zone units and export-oriented units. The scheme refunds embedded, unrebated central, state and local duties, taxes and levies borne on exported products – including prior-stage cumulative indirect taxes. Refunds under the scheme range from 0.3% to 3.9%.
“The above measure reflects the government’s commitment to provide support to exporters by creating a level playing field in international markets vis-a-vis competing economies,” the commerce and industry ministry said in a statement. The existing RoDTEP rates and value caps will continue unchanged, it said. In a separate statement, the ministry said in view of the “continued geopolitical disruptions in West Asia and its impact on maritime logistics across the Gulf and adjoining regions”, it extended the timelines under Component II of RELIEF (Resilience & Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation), a time-bound intervention under the Export Promotion Mission.
This encourages exporters to obtain cover from the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation for upcoming shipments to the specified regions, with a 95% risk coverage. It also ensures that the premium paid by exporters for the eligible period does not exceed the pre-disruption level. “The above extension reflects the Government of India’s commitment to ensure export resilience, sustaining trade flows and supporting exporters amid the prevailing geopolitical and logistics uncertainties,” the ministry said.
