Indian Consulate Attack: Indian American community leader urges San Francisco police to swiftly probe attack on Indian consulate | World News

Expressing concern over the vandalism and arson attack on the Indian consulate in San Francisco last weekend, prominent Indian American community leader Ajay Bhutoria said that it should be condemned in the strongest possible terms. “It is deeply disturbing to see such acts of violence targeting diplomatic missions. The Indian consulate serves as an essential hub for providing consular services and fostering bilateral relations between India and the United States. It is crucial that the staff and members of the consulate are able to operate in a safe and secure environment, free from any threat or harm,” he said.
Bhutoria urged the San Francisco Police Department to swiftly investigate this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice. “Ensuring the safety and security of diplomatic missions is not only a responsibility of the host country but also a fundamental obligation under international law,” he said.
Earlier in March this year, Bhutoria had hosted a roundtable in San Francisco, with US Department of Justice representatives from Washington DC, for a discussion with the Hindu, Sikh, Jain, and Muslim communities to address concerns within the Indian American community, including safety and security of the Indian consulate, hate crimes, and community tensions. The event aimed to promote understanding, build stronger relationships, and ensure safety and security for everyone. This was after the earlier attack on the Indian consulate by pro-Khalistani protestors.
