Two British soldiers were caught having sex in an Apache chopper, worth 8.5 million euros (Rs 75,59,39,000), leaving the army staff stunned.
The ground crew, who had finished a nighttime servicing of the gunship, noticed something unusual. They found that the helicopter’s rotors were moving and heard unexpected sounds emanating from within, Mirror reported.
As the maintenance team, who were intending to install rain protection, drew nearer, they were astounded to discover two individuals squeezed into the back cockpit of the dual-seat aircraft in an intimate encounter.
The technical staff found the pair, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. They were ordered to exit the cockpit and get dressed. Both parties were serving soldiers. Both showed symptoms of intoxication.
The aircraft belonged to the Army Air Corps‘ 653 Squadron, though the involved personnel were believed to be from the Royal Artillery. The recently revealed safety document stated: “They were detained until the chain of command of 653 Squadron and their parent unit arrived.”
The event occurred at Otterburn range in Northumberland in 2016 but has only recently become public knowledge through the Sun’s reporting. Sources indicate that aircraft security protocols have since been enhanced to prevent similar occurrences.
Otterburn Range, Britain’s second-largest live firing facility, has served as a military training ground since 1911, spanning more than 90 square miles.
