Rishi Sunak's first campaign stop of the day: Observing robots in action

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Tuesday started the second-to-last day of the campaign with an early morning visit to an Ocado warehouse in Luton.
The warehouse was filled with whirling robots, and Sunak observed them as they picked items for delivery. Reuters reported that the prime minister, wearing a bright yellow, high-visibility jacket, assisted the staff in selecting avocados and other salad items. He also took a moment to enjoy a cup of tea with the employees.
Sunak surprised people at a motorway service station when he joined the queue at McDonald’s to purchase breakfast for the journalists covering his campaign.
He also released a video on his X account, discussing the potential situation if the Labour party fails to win the election. The video depicted a man waking up in 2025 to a nationwide blackout and a newspaper headline reading, “Rachel: Queen of tax,” targeting Rachel Reeves.

Many people within Sunak’s party and across the nation were surprised when he decided to call an election several months ahead of schedule. The campaign got off to a rocky start when he announced the election date in the midst of a downpour in Downing Street, struggling to be heard over Labour supporters playing a pop song associated with their party’s resounding 1997 election triumph.
Since then, Sunak, a former investment banker, has traveled throughout the country, delivering speeches and participating in several hustings daily. He addressed a rally late Monday evening and is scheduled to attend events throughout Tuesday and into the evening, as reported by Reuters. Despite his efforts, the polls have shown little movement, with Keir Starmer’s opposition Labour Party maintaining a lead of around 20 points and many voters expressing a desire for change after 14 years of Conservative rule under Sunak.
