Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis announcement accompanied by Getty Images disclaimer

NEW DELHI: Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, recently shared a video revealing her cancer diagnosis, an announcement that garnered widespread attention and support. However, the video has come under new scrutiny after Getty Images, the platform hosting the video, appended a disclaimer to the footage provided by Kensington Palace.
Getty’s disclaimer draws attention
The disclaimer reads, “EDITOR’S NOTE: This Handout clip was provided by a third-party organization and may not adhere to Getty Images’ editorial policy.” This standard note, according to a Getty spokesperson, is included for handout content from third-party organizations to highlight potential deviations from Getty’s editorial guidelines.
Middleton’s health disclosure
In the video, Middleton disclosed her ongoing preventative chemotherapy treatment following an abdominal surgery that revealed the presence of cancer. “It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful,” the Duchess shared. She expressed gratitude for the support and understanding she has received during her recovery.
The Duchess’s absence from the public eye since Christmas, coupled with a previously shared altered photo of her and her children, sparked widespread speculation and conspiracy theories regarding her health and whereabouts. The admission of photo alteration led to increased scrutiny, with major photo agencies and social media platforms taking action to label or remove the edited image.
Middleton and her family, including Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, were notably absent from Easter services. This absence, following the Duchess’s public disclosure of her cancer treatment, underscores the personal challenges faced by the royal family. Meanwhile, King Charles III and Queen Camilla, along with other members of the royal family, made their Easter appearance, marking a significant public engagement amidst personal health battles within the family.
Kensington Palace has stated that the Duchess will return to her official duties once cleared to do so by her medical team, highlighting her intent to make a full recovery. As the royal family navigates these personal health issues, the support from the public and the media spotlight on their privacy and well-being continues to be a topic of discussion.
