The club seems keen on Kate due to her passion for sailing, and they recently launched an event called “Women Who Rock the Boat” to encourage more women to get involved in sailing. They see her as a potential great role model for aspiring female sailors. Notable figures like Prince Philip and Lord Mountbatten have been previous patrons of the club.
Kate Middleton has demonstrated her love for sailing and water-related activities, participating in numerous charity events over the years. Last year, she even joined Great Britain‘s sailing team for a friendly race against New Zealand in Plymouth.
This new title would not come as easily as other roles she’s inherited, like the Princess of Wales, though.
As the Princess of Wales, Kate already holds over 20 patronages, many of which have a focus on fitness, including the All England Tennis Club and SportsAid. However, the decision to take on the new role at the Royal Thames Yacht Club would ultimately rest with her and the Royal Family. The club cannot directly approach the palace with the suggestion; the initiative must come from within the Royal Family.
However, given her extensive experience in the sailing world, it’s easy to envision Kate eagerly accepting the invitation with an emphatic ‘yes.’
