Citing Prince Harry‘s ‘right to privacy,’ the US government declined to release information about his American visa application, reported The Daily Mail.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has rejected a Freedom of Information Act request to release facts for the second time.
The Heritage Foundation (HF), a conservative US think-tank made the request to check whether Harry misled on immigration paperwork about his drug use in the past.
The foundation in the past had urged a federal judge to order the release of the immigration records of Britain‘s Prince Harry, who was awarded a visa despite the admission in his memoir that he had used illegal drugs. Lawyers for the Washington-based Heritage Foundation have been seeking the release of the records from the DHS.
Harry and wife Meghan Markle, an American citizen, moved to the United States in January 2020 after stepping away from their royal duties.
Since the last few months, concerns have been made that Harry may have supplied inaccurate information on his entry paperwork, which, if confirmed, may result in his expulsion from the United States.
An initial request in this regard was denied by the DHS. It stated that just because Harry was a “public figure” did not imply he would “forego all rights to privacy.”
According to The Sun, the HF group responded by claiming that the refusal was a delay tactic and that the US administration is acting “outrageously”.
For the unversed, Prince Harry has confessed to previous drug usage, which might be used to prohibit him from entering the United States.
Harry admitted to using illegal drugs in his memoir Spare and his Netflix program, which normally should disqualify him from entering the US unless he has special permission.
The memoir’s myriad revelations included an exploration of Harry’s grief after the death of his mother, Princess Diana, disputes with his brother William and his past drug use. Harry said he took cocaine several times starting around age 17, in order “to feel. To be different.” He also acknowledged using cannabis and magic mushrooms.
The Duke of Sussex has not only enraged Americans with his boasts in his memoir, but he has also landed himself in hot water as some organizations continue to put pressure on the government to reveal Harry‘s immigration details.
Many Americans are outraged at the officials for refusing to release information regarding the Duke’s American visa application.
Memes are being made to mock Harry.
