Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson claimed that a listening device was found in his bathroom after Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu used it during his to the foreign office in 2017 while Johnson was serving as the foreign secretary, as reported by The Telegraph.
Johnson who referred to Netanyahu as “Bibi” said that his security team found a bugging device in the “thunderbox” during a routine sweep for such devices after Israeli PM visit.
“Thither Bibi repaired for a while, and it may or may not be a coincidence but I am told that later, when they were doing a regular sweep for bugs, they found a listening device in the thunderbox,” writes former PM in his book ‘Unleased’ scheduled for release on October 10.
Interestingly, around the same time, Israel faced accusations of planting listening devices in the White House. US officials had said that Israel likely placed cellphone surveillance devices near the White House and other sensitive locations in Washington, DC.
Although Mr Netanyahu has never worked directly for Israel’s spy agency Mossad, he is known to have collaborated closely with them which specializes in foreign intelligence gathering and covert operations.
