Former UK PM Boris Johnson was roped in to give a “manly pep talk” to Harry in a bid to stop the Prince and Meghan Markle from giving up the royal duties in 2020, according to his memoir.
Calling the effort “totally hopeless,” Johnson writes in ‘Unleashed,’ “There was a ridiculous business when they made me try to persuade Harry to stay. Kind of manly pep talk. Totally hopeless.”
Johnson commended Harry’s contributions to the Invictus Games and Meghan’s efforts in promoting education for women and girls in developing countries, one friend informed the Mail, which is serializing the memoir ahead of its release, Leading Britain’s Conversation reported.
“He thought they were a great asset to UK plc and it was a real shame they were leaving when they were doing such great work,” the friend said.
“It was a man-to-man conversation, they were totally alone. But Harry wasn’t for turning – he was unpersuadable by that point. “Boris succeeded in delivering Brexit but even he couldn’t stop Megxit,” they added.
