AGRA: A newlywed resident of Agra was shot dead in a road rage incident in Indianapolis, United States, on Tuesday night. Gavin Dasaur, 29, and Cinthya Viviana Zamora, a Mexican-origin woman he married just 18 days ago, were riding a two-wheeler when a white Chevy pick-up truck recklessly overtook them.
A purported video of the incident shows Gavin pulling out a gun and confronting the truck driver while banging on the car.The two get into a scuffle before the driver pulls out a gun and shoots Gavin multiple times.
Police arrived at the scene and carried out the necessary legal procedures. However, to the family’s dismay, “the driver, who, unlike Gavin, was a US citizen, was released.” The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said that the shooting occurred at around 8.15pm, and the investigation into the shooting and the circumstances surrounding the alleged road rage incident is ongoing.
Gavin’s father, Pawan Dasaur, a retired insurance company employee from Agra, said that he had an “exceptional” educational background, having studied at St George’s College and graduated in science from St John’s Degree College in Agra. Gavin left for the US in 2016 to pursue a diploma in automobile engineering.
“Gavin was in the transport business in Indiana. I couldn’t attend his marriage on June 29 due to visa issues, but my wife was there. Our daughter, a software engineer, is also settled in the US. Everything seemed to be going well until this tragic incident,” Pawan stated.
“We are now counting on the Indian govt to address this matter with the US authorities and ensure that the perpetrator faces the consequences. We desperately await justice,” he added.
Cinthya condemned the shooting, saying, “He was a hardworking man who went out of his way to help anyone and wanted to give the world to me and his family. He did not deserve to die this way. It’s a tragedy that my husband was murdered in cold blood.”
