Hyderabad: The ‘Pravasi Prajavani’ programme at Praja Bhavan on Friday was flooded with representations from NRI families urging the state govt to help them.
Family of a youth who was tricked into taking up a job in Myanmar urged the govt to rescue him and bring him back to India. Musthafa Ullah Khan of Charminar informed his family that he was being forced to be part of a network that was engaging in internet frauds. Khan’s family sought the intervention of the govt to rescue him.
“The facility that has been provided is being made use of by NRI families. They are bringing representations,” TPCC NRI cell convenor Bheem Reddy Mandha said.
On Nov 8, the family of Vontari Narsa Reddy of Sirnapalli in Nizamabad district, who died in a road accident in Saudi Arabia in 2020, sought the govt to help them get the salary dues from the company Narsa Reddy was working for when he died.
Mohammed Zakir came with a petition urging the authorities to help him get back Rs 1.2 lakh an agent took from him to send him to Dubai for a job. He went on a visit visa but could not get a job and therefore returned.
Pradeep came from Canada to India to attend his brother’s last rites. He said he was stuck in India while his wife was in Canada. He was not able to return to Canada due to work permit issues and urged the govt to intervene.
The family of Mohammed Wasiuddin made a representation to the govt to sanction an extra 5 lakh as her husband died in Sharjah. Wasiuddin of Saidabad died on Nov 30, 2023, but the rules say only if the death occurred after Dec 7, 2023, the families would be eligible for ex-gratia. She urged that her representation be considered on humanitarian grounds.
A woman made a representation urging the govt to take action to bring her husband to India from Saudi Arabia as he deserted her.
The requests of the NRI families are wide-ranging. Officials were pursuing every representation made by the families, said TPCC NRI cell convenor
