Well known Indian American immigration lawyer Sheela Murthy will be honoured by the Maryland Chamber of Commerce with an induction to the prestigious Maryland Business Hall of Fame on May 11. Every year, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce hosts its signature event, Inspire MD, to honour the contributions of prominent business leaders in the community. “These individuals are the best in Maryland’s business community and prioritise their civic and philanthropic duties while driving growth and prosperity for their organisation. They are masters of leadership and bring not only their businesses greater success through their hard work and dedication, but also enrich their employees, communities, and colleagues,” the chamber of commerce says about the event.
Murthy, president and CEO of Maryland-based Murthy Law Firm, has been an active member of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, a state-wide business advocacy organisation committed to working with alliance of partners on critical public policy issues. One of America’s top immigration lawyers, Murthy, a Harvard Law School graduate, founded her law firm in 1994 in Baltimore, Maryland. She has been recognised among 20 Most Admired CEOs in Maryland and 50 Most Influential Marylanders. She is also a philanthropist and has co-founded the Murthy NAYAK Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to working on projects to improve the lives of women, children, and immigrants, in India and the US, jointly with her husband Vasant Nayak.
“I am proud to share that on May 11, I will be inducted into the Maryland Business Hall of Fame, representing a prestigious group of CEOs and leaders I am extremely proud to be part of. This is a meaningful award presented by the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, an organisation I believe strongly in. Join me for the awards celebration and a night of fun networking,” Murthy said in a social media post.
