HYDERABAD: Notwithstanding the emerging war scenario in Israel in the wake of Iranian attack, there is no panic among Indian nationals working there but they are on alert.
“We are keeping track of the developing situation. Like always, we can run into bunkers to protect ourselves in case of emergencies. There may not be a problem in Tel Aviv. However, if a situation arises where it will be inevitable to return to India, we will have to,” Rajesh Medichalamala, an Indian worker from Telangana, told TOI from Tel Aviv on Saturday..
In the latest situation, there have been reports of a direct attack by Iran on Israel but that has not created any panic in the Indian workers employed there in different jobs, especially in the construction sector and as home caregivers. On Saturday (April 13), the Telugu community in Tel Aviv got together to celebrate ‘Ugadi’, the Telugu
New Year day. Since April 9 was a working day for them, and Saturday being a Sabbath holiday, they planned the festival.
Aworker hailing from Nizamabad performed the rituals as the Telugu community gathered for the event. They were also joined by workers from other parts of India working there. In addition, the workers also organised Ambedkar jayanthi which falls on April 14.
