All the deceased members of the family are identified as Mani Arvind (45), his wife Pradeepa Arvind, and 17-year-old daughter Andril Arvind were going towards the University of Texas at Dallas. It was supposed to be an exciting day for the Arvind family but turned out to be their last day, Fox 10 news reported.
Along with Arvind family, 31-year-old Jacinto Gudino Duran who was driving the other car, and his 23-year-old passenger were also killed in the car crash.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2004 Cadillac CTS driven by Duran, of Copperas Cove, was heading southbound on US Route 281 at the same time a 2024 Kia Telluride, operated by Arvind, of Leander, was heading northbound.
Evidence at the scene showed the right rear tire of the Cadillac had a blowout, crash investigators said. Witnesses claimed the vehicle passed them at a high rate of speed prior to the collision.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says a blown tire caused a vehicle to skid into their lane and hit their car Wednesday.
A GoFundMe was started for 14-year-old Adiryan Arvind, who is the sole survivor. Adiryan was reportedly starting high school in Leander and couldn’t join his family on the trip.
The GoFundMe account has already raised more than half a million dollars for the surviving teen, which Majeida Harvey-Guyton believes says a lot about their community, according to CBS Austin
“Adiryan who just started 9th grade today, was unable to join them on the trip, and now he is left without his family. This young boy, with so many dreams and aspirations, needs our help for funeral, legal, and ongoing care including educational expenses. This will help him to navigate the difficult road ahead along with his uncle’s family living in Austin,” GoFundMe page reads.
