HYDERABAD: A student from the city, who had gone to the US for higher studies, succumbed to brain stroke which he had suffered earlier this month.
His body was flown to Hyderabad and arrived in the city on Monday. B Ruthvik (30) had recently graduated from Texas A&M University. His family resides in Trimulgherry in Secunderabad and father is a retired official of the road transport department. It was on Feb 16 that Ruthvik suffered the stroke.
He was having lunch with his friends when he collapsed. Ruthvik’s friends called an ambulance and rushed him to a hospital where doctors found a clot in the brain. The left side of his body had become unresponsive. Though a surgery was done, he continued to be critical. He finally succumbed a few days ago. Ruthvik’s friend B Shyam had set up a GoFundMe page for donations to pay for Ruthvik’s treatment. From 1,200 people who contributed, $57,000 dollars was raised out of a target of $200,000.
In an update on the page on Feb 23, Shyam said: “The update about Ruthvik was delayed considering the health conditions of his close family members in India. With heavy hearts, we share the sombre news of Ruthvik’s passing. Ruthvik was in post-surgery observation battling for his life. Despite a valiant struggle for survival, Ruthvik was ultimately declared brain dead a few days ago.”
