VIJAYAWADA: A young student from Bapatla district in Andhra Pradesh lost his life in a road mishap in the US. The student, Achanta Revanth (22), was involved in a car accident while he was on his way to a birthday celebration with friends.
The accident occurred early Tuesday morning according to Indian time, as per the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS).Revanth, from Bodavada of Parchur mandal, was traveling in a car that lost control due to adverse weather conditions and overturned. The extent of injuries to his friends is yet to be ascertained.
The demise of Revanth has plunged his family in Bapatla into sorrow. Revanth, who had completed his BTech, moved to the US in December 2023 to pursue his master’s degree at Dakota State University in Madison.
Mortal remains to be brought home
The family is making arrangements to bring home Revanth’s mortal remains. This incident marks the third fatality involving Andhra natives in the US in a week. On March 30, a woman from NTR district and her daughter were killed in a car crash in Portland, Oregon. The accident occurred on highway 211 near Woodburn, claiming the life of the five-year-old Hanika instantly, while her mother, Kamatham Geetanjali (32), succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday. Geetanjali’s husband Naresh and son suffered injuries in the collision.
