Kahramanmaras earthquake: Another massive earthquake strikes Turkey, Syria | World News



NEW DELHI: Hours after a massive 7.8-magnitude earthquake killed over 1,900 people in Turkey and Syria, two more major earthquakes rocked the region on Monday.
A second earthquake of magnitude 7.6 struck southeastern Turkey’s Kahramanmaras region, the country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said.
It occurred at a depth of 7km, AFAD said adding that the epicenter of the quake was Elbistan region of Kahramanmaras province.
Later, a third magnitude 6.0 quake struck the central Turkey region, according to USGS.
Earlier on Monday a major quake struck the same region, leading to hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries.
The quake, which was centered on Turkey’s southeastern province of Kahramanmaras, was felt as far away as Cairo. It sent residents of Damascus rushing into the street, and jolted awake people in their beds in Beirut.
