DUBLIN: A glitch with Bank of Ireland‘s online app allowed customers with no money in their account to transfer up to 1,000 euros ($1,090.20) into a Revolut digital account that could be withdrawn via an ATM, Independent.ie reported on Tuesday.
Bank of Ireland confirmed that it was working on a technical issue that was impacting multiple services including its mobile app and 365Online, in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
“We are conscious customers may not be able to check balances, but should not withdraw/transfer if they are likely to become overdrawn,” the bank added.
Ireland‘s largest lender by assets also warned customers that if they transferred or withdrew funds, including over their normal limits, the money would be debited from their account.
