Pakistan and China on Monday signed six important documents to expand and expedite cooperation under the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project. PM Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese vice-premier He Lifeng witnessed the signing ceremony held to mark 10 years of the CPEC, which connects Gwadar Port with China’s Xinjiang province and is opposed by India as it is being laid through PoK.
Sharif said that so far over $25 billion worth of investment has taken place under the CPEC in power and hydel sector and road infrastructure.
“We are now entering the second phase of the CPEC which will envisage investments in sectors such as agriculture and I-T,” he said.
