While confirming that he is working with the company, Mohan, however, denied taking up that particular role. Speaking to ET, he said, “I am working with Byju’s founder Byju Raveendran on multiple things but I have not joined the company in this (international business head) role.”
A spokesperson for Byju’s did not immediately respond to queries from ETtech.
Byju’s, which acquired overseas companies such as Tynker and Epiq over the past few years, is currently undertaking a massive workforce retrenchment exercise in its global subsidiaries.
Mohan was formerly the chief executive of UpGrad India. He joined the Mumbai-based company in April 2020, and quit this January.
Prior to joining UpGrad, Mohan spent a little over 11 years at K-12 edtech major Byju’s, where his last designation was chief business officer. Before that, he had worked at several Tata group companies.
