“Extremely devastated to inform that my friend, mentor, brother, soulmate @AmbareeshMurty is no more. Lost him yesterday night to a cardiac arrest at Leh. Please pray for him and for strength to his family and near ones,” Shah’s tweet said.
Murty started Pepperfry with Shah in 2012. The startup became one of the leading online furniture retailers at the time.
He was planning to take Pepperfry public and had been working on the initial public offering since last year.
Murty had been appointed eBay’s country manager for India in 2008. Three years later, he quit eBay to set up Pepperfry.

Reacting to Murty’s demise, Swati Bhargava, cofounder of Cashkaro, tweeted,” So sad & shocking to hear of @AmbareeshMurty’s sudden demise due to cardiac arrest. May his soul rest in peace. An amazing entrepreneur & inspiration to many… may his legacy with @Pepperfry live on #RIP.”
