The Pension Payment Order (PPO) number is a crucial number for pensioners and those who are nearing retirement. This number will be required to receive pension, as the PPO number is a special 12-digit number. Furthermore, it’s crucial to include your PPO number when filing your life certificate each year.

How to download Pension Payment Order number from Digilocker

Step 1: Login into Digilocker account – https://digilocker.gov.in and register
Step 2: Click on UAN services and enter the number.
Step 3: Click on ‘Get Document’. Look for a pension certificate.
Step 4: Available ePPO will be listed below.
Step 5: Click on ‘Download’.

The data will be saved in the issued documents section. You can also download Scheme Certificate and UAN by following the same steps.

How to find your PPO number
Step 1: Log on to www.epfindia.gov.in
Step 2: Under Online service, click on the Pensioner’s portal
Step 3: You will be redirected to the ‘Welcome to Pensioners Portal. ‘Click ‘Know your PPO number’ which is mentioned on the right side of the page
Step 4: Enter either your bank account number or PF number.

After inputting the necessary data, you will be provided with your PPO number, Member ID, and pension type.

Why pensioners need PPO number
PPO is needed for pensioners to monitor their pension and receive it.
When filing complaints with EPFO, the Pension Payment Order Number can be useful (Employee Provident Fund Organization).
When you submit the annual life certificate, you must also have your PPO number. Pension payments may be halted for failure to submit a life certificate.
If you are planning to close the previous bank account, a PPO number is also necessary in order to receive pension payments in a new bank account.

What is the Pension Payment Order (PPO) number?
According to the Central Pension Account Office, “The first five digits of each PPO represent the PPO Issuing Authority’s code number, the following two digits indicate the year of issue, and the next four digits indicate the PPO’s sequential number, with the last digit serving as a computer check digit. A PPO with the number 709650601302 indicates that it was issued by AG Madhya Pradesh in 2006, is the 130th PPO issued by that PPO issuing authority, and is assigned computer code-2.”
