Kolkata: Tropical Agrosystem India Pvt Ltd , which is in the business of crop protection and nutrition in the chemical and organic segments, will begin construction of its proposed Kharagpur unit in the first week of December with an aim to begin production by the second quarter of the next fiscal, chairman VK Jhaver said.

The Kharagpur unit, to be built on four acres, will cater to the eastern markets.

Tropical agro had a turnover of Rs 1100 crore at the end of October, with Kolkata market contributing about 10% of it. Together with JU

“It is important to have a unit in the east so that the supply becomes faster and cost effective,” Jhaver said.

“We are also planning to acquire land in Gujarat for setting up a new unit to cater to the Gujarat market,” Jhaver said. At present, it has a small unit in Gujrat’s Sanad.


The company produces agro chemicals, biological products and fertilisers.
