She cited the examples of Vande Bharat trains and the Udaan initiative to buttress the fact that the government wants common citizens, and not just the privileged ones, to experience quality train or air travel. “Growing India doesn’t exclude the middle class or the poor,” she said, while addressing students at an event in Sikkim.
The minister also asserted that the government has taken care to not discriminate between citizens for the delivery of public goods. “Everybody should get the confidence that they would have what is rightfully theirs. There is no artificial divisive line…,” she said.
Sitharaman lauded success in bolstering online payment architecture, stating that about 40% of the world’s digital payments are undertaken in India.
