During the post-monetary policy press conference, the RBI Governor reported that as of March 31, 2023, there were 3.62 lakh crore notes in circulation. Since the announcement, 1.8 lakh crore of Rs 2000 notes have been returned, which is in line with expectations. There has not been a rush to deposit notes in banks, and approximately 85% of Rs 2,000 notes are being deposited in bank accounts.
