Piyush Goyal unveils two portals to resolve exporters' issues, bring transparency

Piyush Goyal, minister for commerce and industry, on Friday launched two digital initiatives to resolve issues faced by exporters, bring transparency, and make exports more convenient.

The Jansunwai Portal provides exporters with necessary information, clarifications, concerns, find the status of complaints and a video-conferencing facility to directly speak to officials of the various departments concerned with exports.

“There wouldn’t be need for running behind officials, the intention of the government is that nobody ever is required to come to commerce department’s various wings,” Goyal said on the sideline of the Board of Trade Meeting in Mumbai.

Goyal launched the second portal called the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) portal of the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC).

The new portal will make all services offered under ECGC online like filling forms, claims, reimbursements, grievance redressal, policy information, credit support.

ECGC provides credit insurance to Indian exporters.Goyal said to encourage exports from Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) the government in July introduced a new programme by which all exporters except those from the gem and jewellery sector, with credit limit of up to Rs 80 crore will be eligible for credit insurance cover of 90% for any losses they suffer for non-fulfilment of the obligation against their credit.”With 90% insurance cover, their loan amount automatically becomes an AA credit rating account, so banks are happier to lend to such customers at lower interest rates, ECGC is doing an outreach programme across the country to create awareness on the scheme; also it is available online,” Goyal said.

Goyal on Monday held consultations with the state governments export promotion councils of various sectors and industry bodies on ways to simplify systems and processes to achieve the government’s goal of $2 trillion exports by 2030.
