nlmc: CPSEs to give complete list of land parcels assets to NLMC by June 30

The government has asked central public sector enterprises to furnish details of the surplus land or unused buildings held by them along with the latest valuation to the National Land Monetisation Corporation (NLMC) by June 30.

The instruction, from the department of public enterprises, sent out last week follows a detailed review meeting of the status of land monetisation with NLMC, officials said.

At the review meeting, NLMC had highlighted that many CPSEs were yet to furnish latest records of their land parcels, offices and buildings, and latest valuations, a government official privy to the deliberations said.

In some cases, it had pointed out, the valuations were 10-12 years old, the official said.

The Centre had incorporated NLMC in 2022 to monetise the surplus land, flats and buildings and non-core assets of CPSEs to unlock their real value.

While some CPSEs had shared a list of their surplus land holdings to be taken up for monetisation, some others were yet to.

Hindustan Cables Ltd, MTNL, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, Cement Corporation of India and the defence ministry have mandated the NLMC for carrying out monetisation of their surplus real estate land holdingsThe NLMC, which is planning to kick-start the monetisation process from next month, is likely to put up land parcels of BSNL and MTNL for sale.

NLMC has already invited bids to hire professional realty consultants to evaluate the assets to ascertain the current market price of land holdings.

The government, which has large surplus land holdings, expects land monetisation to contribute significantly to the Centre’s Rs 6 lakh crore asset monetisation plan.
