Cabinet provides Rs 13,966-crore boost to farmers; gives nod to infra projects: Key highlights



The Union Cabinet, in its latest meeting, approved seven significant decisions aimed at bolstering farm-related activities and enhancing food security across the nation. These measures are designed to support the agricultural sector, promote sustainable development, and ensure food availability for all citizens, said Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, while addressing a press conference on Monday.

The total outlay of these seven projects stands at Rs 13, 966 crore, highlighted the minister.

While announcing the key decisions, Vaishnaw said, “Today, Seven major decisions have been taken in the cabinet meeting for improving the lives of farmers and increasing their income…The first is Digital Agriculture Mission. This is being developed on lines of the structure of Digital Public Infrastructure for agriculture. A few good pilot projects have been taken up and we have achieved success. On that basis, with a total investment of Rs 20,817 Crores, Digital Agriculture Mission will be set up…”

Here are the major decisions taken by Prime Minister Modi-led Cabinet:

  • Cabinet approved Digital Agri Mission with an outlay of Rs 2,817 crore.
  • It also approved Rs 3,979 crore plan for food, nutritional security.
  • The Cabinet gave its nod to Agri Education, Management Plan worth Rs 2,291 crore.
  • Cabinet approved Horticulture Plan worth Rs 860 crore.
  • The government also approves Rs 71,702 core Livestock Health Management, Production Plan.
  • Cabinet approves Rs 1,202 crore plan to strengthen Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
  • It also approved Rs 1,115 crore plan for Natural Resource Management.
