Biocon’s Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has retired from Infosys’ board of directors, the company announced Thursday. Shaw completed her tenure as an independent director of the board on Wednesday, the IT major said.
Shaw was appointed to the board as an independent director in 2014 and as lead independent director in 2018. She also served as the chairperson of the nomination & remuneration committee and CSR committee, and as a member of the risk management and ESG committees of the board. Infosys’ new lead independent director is D. Sundaram as per the recommendation of the nomination & remuneration committee, the company stated in its release.
Sundaram, who has been on the board since 2017, is also part of the audit committee, risk management committee, stakeholders relationship committee, nomination & remuneration committee and cybersecurity risk sub-committee. He possesses expert knowledge in finance and strategy and has played a significant role in shaping the future strategies of Infosys.

Nandan Nilekani, Infosys chairman, thanked the biotechnology veteran for the guidance and able leadership that helped the company chart a strong growth trajectory. “I am personally very grateful to her as she has been a tremendous ally and amazing colleague on the Board, ever since I re-joined Infosys in August 2017,” he added. The board also congratulated Sundaram on being appointed as lead independent director, adding that the company ‘looked forward to his insight and steadfast support as Infosys continues its growth and transformation journey’.
