Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday urged Income Tax officials to ensure convenience for honest taxpayers while taking firm action against tax evasion, stressing that certainty in the tax regime is critical for the economy.

Speaking at the 167th Income Tax Day celebrations, Sitharaman said, “Tax certainty is an economic imperative.”
