MSME min scheme created 36 L jobs during FY22-26



The Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) of the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) generated employment for 36.33 lakh people and helped establish more than four lakh enterprises during the 15th Finance Commission period from FY22 to FY26. The scheme, implemented through the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), fully utilised its approved outlay of ₹13,554.42 crore during the five-year period, the MSME ministry said in a statement.

According to the ministry, nearly 80% of the enterprises set up under the scheme were located in rural areas, supporting rural industrialisation and balanced regional development.

The scheme facilitated the establishment of 403,706 micro-enterprises, surpassing the target of 402,000 enterprises.
