Founded in 2004, the company uses artificial intelligence (AI) to pull real-time data from more than 1,100 sources, helping clients track market trends and fine-tune pricing. Its offerings span revenue management, competitive intelligence, social media marketing, digital campaign execution and brand engagement. It kept its revenue retention above 90% in each of the five years through 2024-25, underlining sticky client relationships and consistent cross-selling.
The company’s ability to scale up rapidly after the Covid-19 pandemic made it stand out, even as it improved its bottom line. RateGain posted a revenue of Rs 1,076.7 crore for 2024-25, clocking a three-year annual growth rate of 43.2%. Net profit surged at an annual rate of 192% between 2021-22 and 2024-25 to reach Rs 208.9 crore, driven by strong revenue growth and a sharp reduction in financing costs following debt repayment.
As its customer base expanded, the company also sharpened its focus on operational efficiency. Operating margin improved steadily, rising to 21.6% in 2024-25 from 2.5% in 2020-21.
“Today, we’re the world’s largest travel data company, and data is the oil for artificial intelligence. So we’re able to build AI-native products that allow our customers to acquire guests, retain them, engage with them and also grow their wallet share,” founder and managing director Bhanu Chopra said while receiving the award. “We work with every major travel brand today, servicing thousands of customers across over 100 countries, and are very proud to say that we’re made in India.”
The jury for the ET Awards for Corporate Excellence highlighted RateGain’s rapid expansion, driven by growing credibility among global travel players. It singled out the company’s strong post-pandemic scale-up and its ability to build a profitable business by staying tightly focused on a specialised segment.
“When I started RateGain, it wasn’t a very big dream. It was a very niche and unique use case I was trying to solve but I always believed I would be here one day receiving this award. This is a big shot in the arm and we’re just getting started,” Chopra said.
