NBCFDC logs highest ever disbursement of Rs 613.75 crore in FY26: Govt

New Delhi: The National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation achieved its highest-ever disbursement of Rs 613.75 crore during FY 2025-26, benefiting 61,621 beneficiaries, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment said on Wednesday.

The disbursement marked an increase of around 16 per cent over the previous financial year, with the corporation ensuring 100 per cent geographical coverage and nearly 99 per cent utilisation of available funds, it said in a statement.

The National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC), a Section 8 company under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, is mandated to undertake initiatives for the socio-economic empowerment of OBCs across the country.

It primarily facilitates concessional lending through channel partners such as state channelising agencies (SCAs), banks, and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs).


To expand access to concessional finance, the ministry introduced the VISVAS Interest Subvention Scheme in FY 2024-25. In FY 2025-26, the NBCFDC fully utilised Rs 35.20 crore allocated under the scheme, enabling loans worth Rs 2,720 crore to 1,92,650 beneficiaries, the ministry said.

Under the national fellowship for OBCs, the corporation disbursed Rs 123.33 crore during FY 2025-26, benefiting 2,505 students, while also fully utilising the funds released by the ministry.The NBCFDC has been at the forefront of implementing the livelihood component of the Scheme for Economic Empowerment of Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (SEED), the ministry said.

During FY 2025-26, financial assistance of Rs 19.20 crore was extended, supporting 2,373 self-help groups (SHGs) and 28,476 beneficiaries, the statement read.

The corporation also achieved near-complete utilisation of Rs 45.34 crore under the PM-DAKSH scheme, leading to the closure of scheme liabilities, the ministry said.

As part of its outreach efforts, the NBCFDC organised two ‘Shilp Melas’ in Bhubaneswar and Ahmedabad in FY26, and provided logistical support for a ‘Chintan Shivir’ held in Dehradun last April, it said.
