Karnataka reviews global outreach push to boost startup market access

Karnataka IT/BT minister Priyank Kharge on Wednesday chaired a high-level review meeting to strengthen market access for startups and expand international collaboration through structured engagement programmes.

The meeting held in Bengaluru was attended by senior officials of the IT/BT department, including secretary N Manjula and director Rahul Sharanappa Sankannur, along with other stakeholders, the department said in a statement.

The review focussed on strengthening the state’s international engagement framework to enable more structured and outcome-driven collaborations with global innovation ecosystems. Discussions covered startup mobility, institutional partnerships, global visibility, and governance mechanisms, the statement said.

The statement further added that the key area of focus was the expansion of the Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) programme. The government is looking to improve market access for startups, facilitate cross-border collaborations, and strengthen Karnataka’s positioning as a global innovation hub, it said.

The department is also working to scale both inbound and outbound programmes to help startups access international markets through bilateral and multilateral initiatives.

Preparations were also reviewed for the “Dialogue with Diplomats – Global Innovation Alliance for Emerging Technologies,” scheduled for April 17 in Delhi. Chief minister Siddaramaiah, deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar and Kharge are expected to participate, the statement said.
