Chief executive officer Mamedi and chief strategy officer Zarringhalam will remain strategic advisors to Truecaller until June 30, 2025.
Jhunjhunwala, who will assume the role on January 9, was previously the chief product officer and managing director of Truecaller’s India division.
He has been with Truecaller since 2015. He has been overseeing Truecaller’s product teams and the company’s two revenue streams: advertising and Truecaller for Business.
“Having worked closely with Alan (Mamedi) and Nami (Zarringhalam) since 2015, I know these are big shoes to fill, but I am confident to continue tirelessly working towards getting us closer to our mission to make future communication more safe and secure,” said Jhunjhunwala.
Following this announcement, Truecaller’s cofounders Mamedi and Zarringhalam shared in a personal letter that stepping back from day-to-day operations would allow them to focus on the company’s long-term strategy as board members and advisors, enabling the leadership team to drive Truecaller’s growth.

“While we will continue to provide advice and support, we believe it is essential to have a leader at the helm who embodies our company’s core values and is prepared to lead us into the future,” they said in a joint statement.Last year, Mamedi said that Truecaller aims to double its user base in India to 400-500 million by 2026, driven by the country’s expanding smartphone market. In October 2023, it acquired Unoideo Technologies, the provider of fraud detection service TrustCheckr.
