In a recent interview, Meghan revealed that her fashion choices are more than just personal preference—they are part of a deliberate strategy to promote brands she believes in.The Duchess shared that she actively seeks out and invests in intriguing products, especially those from female-led businesses in other countries, reported the New York Times.
Brand investments and personal style
Among her investments is the handwoven basket bag from Cesta Collective, a recent addition to her fashion collection. These bags, crafted by women in Rwanda and finished in Italy, reflect Meghan’s commitment to supporting artisans from around the world.
Meghan’s brand investment journey began during the pandemic with her purchase of stock in Clevr Blends, a vegan instant latte startup. She believes her involvement with various brands has contributed to the development of her own brand, American Riviera Orchard. Meghan was quoted by NYT as explaining, “Investing in them has helped me line up for this chapter where I’m investing in myself.”
Finding and supporting new designers
The Duchess emphasized her active role in discovering new designers and brands, stating that she spends considerable time online searching for innovative products. “When people are online looking for things or reading things, I’m trying to find great new designers, especially in different territories,” she said.
Meghan’s approach extends to her public appearances, where she chooses to wear items from smaller or emerging brands to ensure they receive the attention they deserve. “That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do, and that’s simply wearing, like, an earring,” she concluded.
