As preparations begin at 10 Downing Street to welcome British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, one thing that remained constant at the official British PM residence was Larry, the Downing Street cat.
The feline, who holds the official title “Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office,” will now share the residence with his sixth prime minister and was spotted walking around the iconic high gloss black door of Number 10.
Larry has been living at the British PMs residence since 2011, when he was adopted from the nearby Battersea Dogs & Cats Home during David Cameron’s tenure as prime minister.
Meanwhile, Larry has seen the tenure of other five Conservative Prime Ministers, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, and Rishi Sunak, acting as an unconventional barometer of British politics.
The feline also has an official social media account which after the landslide victory for the Labour posted on X and said, “The people have spoken and what they’ve said is mainly swear words aimed at the Tories.”

Additionally, Larry may soon have a companion as Starmer already has a cat named JoJo.
