NEW DELHI: In yet another horrific ordeal for flyers, a British Airways flight took off from London to the United States with around 300 passengers only to return to the same airport after more than nine hours.
The flight crossed the Atlantic Ocean, halfway through the trip, only to turn around and come back to the London airport.
The incident happened on Monday morning while British Airways Flight 195 was traveling from London to Houston. The trip which usually takes 10 hours and 20 minutes, in effect became the worst nightmare for the passengers.
According to a Business Standard report, the British Airways flight 195 took off from London Heathrow for Houston about 30 minutes late and after over nine hours was back where it started due to technical issue.
The Boeing 787 made a roundtrip of 4,600 miles. In a statement, a British Airways spokesperson said the flight returned “as a precaution due to a minor technical issue.”
“We’ve apologised to our customers for the disruption to their journey,” they added.
It was unclear as to what the “technical issue” was.
The airlines. however, booked the passengers to the next available flight.
