NEW DELHI: In a statement released on Monday, Buckingham Palace informed that Britain’s King Charles III, aged 75, has been diagnosed with a form of cancer. The monarch will be postponing public-facing duties in light of this recent development.
This follows his three-night hospital stay last month, during which he underwent a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate. A separate concern was identified during this time, leading to subsequent tests that revealed the presence of cancer.
The palace refrained from providing specific details about the type of cancer King is facing, but a royal source clarified that it is not related to the prostate.
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” the palace said. “Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”

The announcement comes just a week after both Kate and King Charles were discharged from a private London clinic following medical procedures.
King Charles ascended to the throne last year at the age of 74, succeeding his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, following her passing. King Charles had a non-cancerous growth removed from his face in 2008.
