NEW DELHI: Tragedy struck a flight as a as a 52-year-old steward from British Airways collapsed and tragically passed away in front of passengers on a plane waiting to takeoff. The incident occurred on a busy flight from London Heathrow to Hong Kong.

The captain urgently called for medical assistance, and a passenger with first aid training rushed to help. However, despite the arrival of police and ambulance teams, the steward could not be resuscitated. In light of this “medical emergency,” passengers were informed that the New Year’s Eve flight would be cancelled.
Affected passengers were rebooked onto BA31, which was scheduled for the following day. British Airways expressed their condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with our colleagues’ family and friends at this difficult time.”
This marks the second recent loss for British Airways, as another 52-year-old steward passed away on December 23.
The crew raised concerns when the steward failed to report for duty, leading to the cancellation of the flight. Colleagues, too distraught to continue working, were flown home as passengers.
The crew member was discovered lifeless in his hotel room during a stopover between flights, adding to the shock and disbelief among colleagues. Sources reveal that both stewards were in good health, stating, “Crew are frantic. These were two healthy people who suddenly dropped dead. There were no reported underlying health issues,” The Sun reported.
