NEW DELHI: In a rather unusual case, a woman from Florida was arrested for poisoning her date’s drink with cockroach repellent spray after inviting him to her home, Fox News reported.
Veronica Cline, 29, was charged with poisoning the man’s food or drink, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said on Friday.
The authorities have not been able to establish a motive behind the alleged poisoning.
Cops were called to Veronica’s home in Deleon Spring around 4.30am on Friday, where they found the man ill.
According to the victim, he came home with Cline after she asked him to continue drinking with her, the report said.
The man said that he began feeling sick after having two drinks. Cline then allegedly admitted to spiking the drinks with roach spray.
The Sheriff’s office in its statement said that the victim told the deputies that the man was vomiting for about 30 minutes before he was able to call for help. He became sick again while providing his statement to a deputy.
The Sheriff’s office further said in its statement that Cline wasn’t home when the deputies arrived and a law enforcement dog tracked her down after which she was taken into custody.
The man was known to Cline and his condition at this time is unclear, reports said.
