In comparison to last year, more than 5 crore ITRs for AY 2023–24 have already been filed as of July 27 this year, said the tax department in a tweet.
However, many taxpayers are requesting to extend the deadline due to rains, floods in many states, internet connectivity problems and glitches in the tax portal.
Here are some taxpayers who tweeted their issues and some requested extensions, under the Twitter hashtag, extend due date.
Working at this hour, wondering if the site will work fine, but its throwing a strange error. Tried a few times in different PAN’s but same error. Having entered and saved the data , its asking to submit again
IT Portal throws service unavailable error within few mins of login, also there is no saved ITR when we log back in. We are forced to start afresh every time & issue repeats. Please look into this ASAP. Thank you

We are working at this hour but site not working. We don’t want extension but the smoothly support from the site.
Due to heavy rain in across India, health issues like fever, eye conjectivites issue, internet connection issue. So please this is humble request to you. Extend_Due_Date in favour of public.
Portal is working, has glitches though. IMHO reason for Extend_Due_Date not trending is no hope for extension no matter how genuine the reason. Ideally either TDS / Form 16 / SFT dates should be advanced or ITR dates should be pushed by at least 15 days permanently
