The song, featuring PM Modi, has been created in collaboration with him by the Mumbai-born singer-songwriter and her husband Gaurav Shah to raise awareness of the super grain as another potential key to minimising world hunger.
It is set to be released today in celebration of the International Year of the Millets.
“Excellent effort @FaluMusic! There is abundance of health and well-being in Shree Ann or millets. Through this song, creativity has blended with an important cause of food security and removing hunger,” PM Modi tweeted appreciating Falu‘s effort.
He was responding to a tweet by Falu in which she revealed that the song was inspired by PM Modi’s proposition to the United Nations.
“Abundance in Millets” a song inspired by PM @narendramodi’s proposition to the @UN to declare 2023 as the International Year of Millets. Honored to collaborate with him, write a song to promote millets, help farmers grow it & help end world hunger,” Falu tweeted.

The year 2023 has been designated as the ‘International Year of Millets’ after a proposal for it was brought forward by India and endorsed by Members of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Governing Bodies, as well as by the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly.
Falu, who won the Grammy Award for Best Children’s Album in 2022 for her album A Colorful World, said the idea to write a song about millets came to her when she met Modi in New Delhi last year after her Grammy win.
She said PM Modi suggested to her to write a song with a message of ending hunger during their discussion on the power of music to bring change and uplift humanity.
Falu said PM Modi told her that India promotes millets because it is a super grain and has immense health and nutritional value.
She revealed that she very “naively” asked the Prime Minister if he would write the song with her and he agreed.
“We have collaborated on the song, it’s a single and it’s coming out on June 16,” with a worldwide release on every streaming platform, she said.
The song will be released in Hindi and English, Falu said, adding that it will be translated into other regional languages to ensure a widespread reach.
Earlier on June 7, Falu in a video message had welcomed PM Modi’s upcoming trip to the US and said, “I’m overjoyed and overexcited that this is happening, the honourable PM (Modi) is coming (to the US). Only good things happen when two democracies meet.”
