Discussed attacks on temples in Australia with PM Albanese, PM Modi says

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that the attacks on Australian temples was one of the primary issues that he discussed with his counterpart Anthony Albanese in Sydney.
PM Modi, who held bilateral talks with Albanese on his Australian visit, said the Australian PM assured that he will take strict actions against such elements.
“PM Anthony Albanese and I have in the past discussed the issue of attack on temples in Australia and activities of separatist elements. We discussed the matter today also. We will not accept any elements that harm the friendly and warm ties between the India-Australia relationship by their action or thoughts. PM Albanese assured me once again today that he will take strict actions against such elements in the future also,” the Prime Minister said.
Ahead of the talks, PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour at the Admiralty House in Sydney.
The Prime Minister addressed the Indian diaspora in Sydney on Tuesday at the Qudos Arena where he was accorded a rousing welcome by thousands of Indians across Australia. At the grand event, Albanese described PM Modi as ‘the boss’.
PM Modi and Albanese also discussed ways to strengthen people-to-people links, renewable energy, and defence and security cooperation.
The Prime Minister’s trip to Australia comes after he met with Albanese, US President Joe Biden and Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Hiroshima over the weekend.
